Spinner Mohammad Nabi bagged four wickets to help Chittagong Vikings open the Bangladesh Premier League 2016 with a 29-run victory over champions Comilla Victorians on Tuesday.
Batting first, Chittagong posted 161 for 3 thanks to a 38-ball 54 from skipper Tamim Iqbal and a 28-ball 46 from Shoaib Malik. Jahurul Islam added 29 while Anamul Haque made 22.
In reply, the defending champions struggled in front of Nabi and other Vikings bowlers as they could only manage 132 for 8. Nazmul Hossain Shanto was the odd one out, hitting 54 off 44 balls, including four consecutive boundaries in the last over bowled by Taskin Ahmed, but that was not going to be enough.
Marlon Samuels was the second highest scorer with 23.
Nabi was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
