BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Narayanganj district BNP leaders were present in the meeting.
Taimur Alam, however, while talking to the Prothom Alo showed his reluctance to contest the civic polls as, what he said, the election would not be a good one.
He also told the BNP chairperson about his reluctance.
“What is the point of becoming a candidate if the election is not held in a fair manner?” asked Taimur.
He, however, said he will contest the civic polls if the party wants.
Besides, ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL) has picked incumbent mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, who fought against the party candidate Shamim Osman to become the first mayor of the city in 2011, as its candidate this time.
