Drowned youth’s body recovered from Dhaleshwari River

Police on Sunday recovered body of a young man who went missing after a car plunged into the Dhaleshwari River breaking the railing of Muktarpur Birdge in Munshiganj on Friday night. The dead is identified as Jalal Uddin Bhuiyan Rumi, 20, son of Saifuddin Rauf, a resident of Amlapara in Narayanganj city. Locals saw the body was floating on Dhaleshwari River at Charkishorganj area around 3:25pm and informed the police, said Md Jahirul Islam, assistant inspector of Munshiganj police station. Later police and fire service and civil defence members recovered the body. On Saturday M Mosharraf Hossian, in-charge of Muktarpur River police camp, said Rumi went to Muktarpur Bridge in the night by a car. Reaching the bridge, Rumi dispatched driver Rubel from the car and started to drive the car himself. At one stage, as he lost control over the steering, the vehicle fell into the river breaking the railing of the bridge.
